Candid is a 2018 American satirical dark comedy film directed by J. B. Rogers, written by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, and produced by Kirkman, Moore, and Mike Medavoy. It was released in the United States on August 18, 2018, by Unscripted Entertainment and LStar Capital. The plot centers on a couple that must deal with the impending arrival of their newborn baby and his difficult father.
Plot
The film begins with Katie Stewart, the pregnant, unwed mother, walking through a park, where she meets Jason Bourne, a former CIA agent who works as a hitman. Katie tells him that her and her husband Andrew, an award-winning television journalist, are looking for an assassin to murder their unborn baby, so they can focus on the birth and not raise their son alone. After agreeing to take the job for $75,000, Jason leaves with her, only to be gunned down moments later. A witness reveals that the hitman was working with a woman who killed Jason because she was pregnant.
Andrew is now dead, and the news of his murder only makes Katie more determined to have their son. As a result, she continues to follow the hitman, searching for her son's killer, a process she refers to as "losing my dad". The hitman eventually disappears. In the following months, Katie's sister, Whitney, a former addict, reveals she wants to end her life by jumping off a bridge, but she's scared that if she does, she won't see her daughter or her granddaughter. Katie and Whitney's mother, Laura, a former school teacher, decide to help her.
Meanwhile, Katie's ex-husband Mark starts to feel neglected, and although he accepts the fact that he's not the biological father of Katie's baby, he still plans to meet his son. While Andrew and Katie do not talk to each other, they are still in love, but their relationship is strained. Katie, Whitney and Laura try to find out the truth about Jason's murder, and eventually they find evidence of a woman who killed Jason. With this evidence, the trio determines to confront the woman to get her to tell them the truth about Jason. On the night of the confrontation, Whitney jumps off the bridge, but survives.
